So, if they start making the Slate Pickup in late 2026, when do you think we might actually see them hit the road? Do you think I could be behind the wheel of one in 2027? That would be awesome

If all goes well and everything is smooth, I'd like to start seeing them in 2027. I don't want to jinx it, but I'm haiving a good feeling about this

My reading of it was that they plan to be selling them in late 2026. I hope they meet or beat that goal.
It seems that multiple auto makers are talking bringing small trucks out in the US since Slate announced theirs, so they may be feeling some pressure. Hopefully Slate is able to do everything they have planned. With the economy of reducing parts count drastically and simplifying the design, they may still be able to beat the others and keep prices down with a profit.
Look at just a common economy car door, it may have 100 parts.
People think the market wants bigger vehicles, but it's that the car companies wanted to sell bigger vehicles. The big vehicles are where most of the incentives have been. Rebates, discounts, etc, because there were higher margins.

I think this is true for houses as well, tbh.

What other automakers do you see selling smaller trucks?

Yes houses have the same issue. You no longer see "starter houses" being built much. New construction is nearly all 2 story 4-5 bedroom large kitchen which is a nice house, but leaves little for those on a budget but bidding on older houses, competing against flippers and landlords going in with cash offers.

Telo is planning a $41k electric truck next year, I'd seen something mentioning one of the major automakers considering selling a small truck in the US, but now I can't find it.

I would love more smaller truck options. I'm one of those people who drives a smaller car anyway, and especially if you're just going to get groceries, I don't think having a truck that can drive over other cars is necessary, tbh.
