Turns out Jeff Bezos is quietly backing a new EV start up called Slate Auto, and it's flying way under the radar. Its based in Michigan and has been in stealth mode since 2021, but behind the scenes, theyve hired a bunch of folks from big names like Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Harley Davidson. The big idea? A simple and affordable 2 seat electric pickup for around $25k, kind of like a modern day Model T or Beetle. Crazy or nah? lol

I mean it worked for Elon Musk - paid for his rocket company in so many ways. I think this truck is going to be a huge step forward for most folks.

The $25k price point for an EV pickup would be a game changer if they can pull it off. I agree it can be progressive

I was looking at the page about charging options. I noticed the 110 house plug option and consider that is a great way to make it more approachable for regular income people.

I've been looking into it, the 110 option may work for people driving relatively short distances, but if you can manage getting a level 2 charger installed, and are on an electric plan that has peak/off peak rates, it would bring the bill to charge way down.

Thanks for finding out more information about the 110 option. Next I wonder if having a solar charging set up would help in a significant manner.

The general rule has been that if your electric bill averages over $100/month it's worth getting solar.
Just how things work out depends on your electric company and how their rates are set up, but the idea with using a level 2 charger at home is you set it to charge the car when rates are the lowest. This can work together with solar for cheaper or no bills.
