I just came across some info about an aftermarket sunroof for the Slate that turns it into an open-air beach cruiser style. It's not something you can open or close on the go, it's more of a garage install with parts you keep at home. Looks like aftermarket companies are starting to support DIY customization. Would this kind of setup be something you'd want?

That sounds like a cool option if youre going for a fun, open-air look and dont mind the extra work to install or remove it, but i'd probably only go for it if the fit and finish were solid and it didn't risk leaks, have you seen how well it seals in bad weather?

Fair point, nothing kills the vibe faster than a leaky roof. I think if the aftermarket company nails sealing and durability, it could be worth the hassle. Otherwise, it's just an expensive headache
