I was listening to the latest My Week in Cars podcast from the car design event in Munich, and one Tisha Johnson, Slate's design lead I think ,made an interesting comment. She said their full focus right now is on developing an American truck that they can actually deliver in the U.S. market. It got me thinking about how rare it is to hear a not so small automaker so laser focused on one segment and one market for the time being. Although the truck has been made very tailored with American drivers solely in mid

Seems Slate is trying to succeed by not trying to be everything to everyone, which is good tbh.

By targeting the American truck market specifically, they can pour all their resources into getting one product right. This is good for us buyers. It also helps that the truck is designed to be customizable and affordable, which might appeal to a different kind of buyer than the existing EV trucks on the market. The idea is to build a very specific vehicle for a very specific customer and make sure they can actually deliver it. That kind of singular focus could make it a success or a niche product. This is interesting to watch.

@Kobiee I think this is a good thing, it makes the project feel more real to me. It's not just another company trying to cash in on the truck trend.
It sounds like they're genuinely trying to build a vehicle for a specific person who's been priced out of the new truck market. That kind of laser focus on a single customer is what makes a product great, and it's a refreshing change from the usual corporate speak
