If you’re dreaming about getting a little extra range or power from your upcoming Slate, you should know that aftermarket swaps can be a bit of a minefield. What’s safe to do, what actually fits, and what could lead to some serious headaches?

I'm already saving threads even though my Slate hasn't arrived yet. Everything I've read suggests sticking to accessories at first, since custom battery swaps can lead to thermal issues, strange errors, and lengthy conversations with support teams

Got really into reading about EV swaps late at night.
It seems like upgrading tires and tweaking software are pretty straightforward, but as soon as you start dealing with batteries or controllers, issues with fitment and warranties can pile up quickly.

From what I've observed with early EV adopters, it looks like the simplest upgrades are related to wheels, cooling systems, and monitoring enhancements. Sure, power modifications sound exciting, but mixing battery packs or running into BMS problems can turn small projects into costly lessons in no time.
