I've been thinking about how the maintenance for a Slate EV compares to a traditional truck. What do you guys think? Are the costs likely to go up or down? I'm really curious to hear your thoughts

Keeping up with an EV is easier on your wallet. Forget about oil changes, transmission fluid, spark plugs, or exhaust repairs! You'll mainly be dealing with tires and brakes (which last a long time thanks to regenerative braking). Eventually, you'll need a new battery, but the money you save in the beginning should cover that after 8 to 10 years.

well, yeah, they'll be different. You save a ton by skipping routine stuff like oil and transmission fluid.
The flip side is that when something does go wrong, like a major issue with the battery cooling system or a drive unit, those repairs can be extremely specialized and expensive. It's a lower frequency, higher cost risk profile, if that makes sense

Don’t overlook software updates and diagnostics, electric vehicles really depend on firmware, and some repairs might need dealer-level tools. Moreover, the cabin systems, sensors, and charging hardware can create unique maintenance requirements that set them apart from traditional trucks.
